13: Santidade da Vida

1. A vida é um presente de Deus

· Gênesis 1:26-27: “Então disse Deus: Façamos o homem à nossa imagem, conforme a nossa semelhança. Domine ele sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus, sobre os animais domésticos, sobre toda a terra e sobre todo réptil que se move sobre a terra. Criou Deus, pois, o homem à sua imagem; à imagem de Deus o criou; homem e mulher os criou.”

· Salmo 139:13-16: “Pois tu formaste o meu interior; tu me teceste no ventre de minha mãe. Eu te louvo, porque de um modo assombroso e maravilhoso fui formado. Maravilhosas são as tuas obras; a minha alma o sabe muito bem. Os meus ossos não te foram encobertos, quando eu era formado no oculto, intrinsecamente tecido nas profundezas da terra. Os teus olhos viram o meu corpo ainda informe; no teu livro foram escritos cada um deles, os dias que foram determinados para mim, quando ainda nem um deles havia.”

· Jó 33:4: “O Espírito de Deus me fez, e o sopro do Todo-Poderoso me dá vida.”

· Isaías 44:24: “Assim diz o Senhor, o seu Redentor, que o formou desde o ventre materno: ‘Eu sou o Senhor, que fiz todas as coisas, que sozinho estendi os céus e espalhei a terra por mim mesmo.’”

2. Deus é o Doador da Vida e Soberano sobre a Vida e a Morte

· Deuteronômio 32:39: “Vede agora que eu, eu mesmo, o sou, e fora de mim não há deus; eu mato e eu faço viver; eu firo e eu curo; e não há quem possa livrar-se da minha mão.”

· 1 Samuel 2:6: “O Senhor tira a vida e vivifica; faz descer ao Sheol e faz subir.”

· Salmo 36:9: “Porque em ti está o manancial da vida; na tua luz vemos a luz.”

· Atos 17:25: “Nem é servido por mãos humanas, como se necessitasse de alguma coisa, pois ele mesmo dá a todos os homens a vida, a respiração e todas as coisas.”

3. O Valor da Vida

· Gênesis 9:5-6: “E pelo vosso sangue, que é a vossa vida, requererei contas; de todo animal o requererei, e também do homem. Do seu semelhante requererei contas pela vida do homem. Quem derramar o sangue do homem, pelo homem o seu sangue será derramado, porque Deus fez o homem à sua imagem.”

· Êxodo 20:13: “Não matarás.”

· Provérbios 6:16-17: “Há seis coisas que o Senhor odeia, sete que ele abomina: olhos altivos, língua mentirosa e mãos que derramam sangue inocente.”

· Provérbios 24:11-12: “Livra os que estão sendo levados para a morte; detém os que tropeçam para a matança. Se disseres: Eis que não sabíamos disso, não o percebe aquele que pesa o coração? Não o sabe aquele que guarda a tua alma? E não retribuirá ao homem segundo a sua obra?”

· Mateus 6:26: “Observem as aves do céu: elas não semeiam, nem colhem, nem ajuntam em celeiros; e, contudo, o Pai celestial as alimenta. Não valeis vós muito mais do que elas?”

· Mateus 10:29-31: “Não se vendem dois pardais por um asse? E nenhum deles cairá no chão sem a permissão de vosso Pai. Mas até os cabelos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais, pois; mais valeis vós do que muitos pardais.”

· Lucas 12:6-7: “Não se vendem cinco pardais por dois asses? E nenhum deles está esquecido diante de Deus. Ora, até os cabelos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais; mais valeis vós do que muitos pardais.”

4. Deus conhece e cuida de cada vida

· Mateus 10:31: “Portanto, não temais; mais valeis vós do que muitos pardais.”

· Lucas 12:7: “Ora, até os cabelos da vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais; mais valeis vós do que muitos pardais.”

· Isaías 49:15: “Pode uma mulher esquecer-se tanto do seu filho que ainda mama, que não tenha compaixão do filho do seu ventre? Ainda que esta se esqueça, eu, contudo, não me esquecerei de ti.”

· Salmo 8:3-5: “Quando contemplo os teus céus, obra dos teus dedos, a lua e as estrelas que neles estabeleceste, que é o homem, para que te lembres dele? E o filho do homem, para que te preocupes com ele? Contudo, pouco abaixo dos seres celestiais o fizeste, e de glória e de honra o coroaste.”

· Jeremias 1:5: “Antes que eu te formasse no ventre materno, eu te conheci; antes que saísses da madre, eu te consagrei; às nações te dei por profeta.”

· Lucas 1:44: “Pois eis que, ao ouvir a voz da tua saudação, a criança saltou de alegria no meu ventre.”

5. A vida é sagrada e deve ser protegida

· Salmo 82:3-4: “Fazei justiça ao fraco e ao órfão; defendei os direitos dos aflitos e dos necessitados. Livrai o fraco e o necessitado; livrai-os das mãos dos ímpios.”

· Êxodo 21:22-23: “Quando dois homens brigarem e ferirem uma mulher grávida, de modo que ela tenha filhos, mas não houver dano algum, aquele que a feriu certamente será multado, conforme o marido dela lhe impuser, e pagará conforme os juízes determinarem. Mas se houver dano, então pagará vida por vida.”

· Provérbios 24:11-12: “Livra os que estão sendo levados para a morte; detém os que tropeçam para a matança. Se disseres: Eis que não sabíamos disso, não o percebe aquele que pesa o coração? Não o sabe aquele que guarda a tua alma? E não retribuirá ao homem segundo a sua obra?”

6. A Santidade da Vida Não Nascida

Pois eis que, ao ouvir a tua saudação, a criança saltou de alegria no meu ventre.’”

7. A vida humana é preciosa para Deus

· Gênesis 9:6: “Quem derramar sangue de homem, pelo homem seu sangue será derramado; porque Deus fez o homem à sua imagem.”

· Mateus 18:10: “Cuidado para que não desprezeis nenhum destes pequeninos. Pois eu vos digo que os seus anjos nos céus sempre veem a face de meu Pai, que está nos céus.”

· Mateus 25:40: “E responder-lhes-á o Rei: Em verdade vos digo que, sempre que o fizestes a um destes meus pequeninos irmãos, a mim o fizestes.”

8. O Valor da Vida na Eternidade

· João 10:10: “O ladrão vem somente para roubar, matar e destruir. Eu vim para que tenham vida e a tenham em abundância.”

· João 11:25-26: “Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida. Quem crê em mim, ainda que morra, viverá; e todo aquele que vive e crê em mim jamais morrerá.”

· Apocalipse 22:1-2: “Então o anjo me mostrou o rio da água da vida, brilhante como cristal, que fluía do trono de Deus e do Cordeiro, pelo meio da praça da cidade. Também, de uma e outra margem do rio, a árvore da vida, com seus doze frutos, dando seu fruto de mês em mês. As folhas da árvore eram para a cura das nações.”

The Sanctity of Life

1. Life is a Gift from God

· Genesis 1: 26-27: “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

· Psalm 139: 13-16: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

· Job 33: 4: “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”

· Isaiah 44: 24: “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: ‘I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself.’”

2. God is the Giver of Life and Sovereign over Life and Death

· Deuteronomy 32: 39: “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.”

· 1 Samuel 2: 6: “The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.”

· Psalm 36: 9: “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.”

· Acts 17: 25: “Nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.”

3. The Value of Life

· Genesis 9: 5-6: “And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man. Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.”

· Exodus 20: 13: “You shall not murder.”

· Proverbs 6: 16-17: “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”

· Proverbs 24: 11-12: “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Behold, we did not know this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?”

· Matthew 6: 26: “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

· Matthew 10: 29-31: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

· Luke 12: 6-7: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

4. God Knows and Cares for Every Life

· Matthew 10: 31: “Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

· Luke 12: 7: “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

· Isaiah 49: 15: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

· Psalm 8: 3-5: “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”

· Jeremiah 1: 5: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

· Luke 1: 44: “For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.”

5. Life is Sacred and Should Be Protected

· Psalm 82: 3-4: “Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

· Exodus 21: 22-23: “When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life.”

6. The Sanctity of Unborn Life

7. Human Life is Precious to God

· Genesis 9: 6: “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.”

· Matthew 18: 10: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”

· Matthew 25: 40: “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

8. The Value of Life in Eternity

· John 10: 10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

· John 11: 25-26: “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.’”

· Revelation 22: 1-2: “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
