22: Meio Ambiente e Administração

1. Deus como Criador e Dono da Terra

· Gênesis 1:1: “No princípio, Deus criou os céus e a terra.”

· Salmo 24:1: “Do Senhor é a terra e tudo o que nela há, o mundo e aqueles que nele habitam.”

· Colossenses 1:16: “Porque nele foram criadas todas as coisas nos céus e na terra, as visíveis e as invisíveis, sejam tronos, sejam dominações, sejam principados, sejam potestades. Tudo foi criado por ele e para ele.”

2. Responsabilidade Humana pela Mordomia

· Gênesis 1:26-28: “Então disse Deus: Façamos o homem à nossa imagem, conforme a nossa semelhança. Domine ele sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus, sobre os animais domésticos, sobre toda a terra e sobre todo réptil que se move sobre a terra. Criou Deus, pois, o homem à sua imagem; à imagem de Deus o criou; homem e mulher os criou. E Deus os abençoou. E disse-lhes Deus: Frutificai, multiplicai-vos, enchei a terra e sujeitai-a; dominai sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus e sobre todo animal que se move sobre a terra.”

· Gênesis 2:15: “O Senhor Deus tomou o homem e o colocou no jardim do Éden para lavrá-lo e guardá-lo.”

· Levítico 25:23-24: “A terra não será vendida perpetuamente, pois é minha. Pois vocês são estrangeiros e peregrinos comigo. E em todo o país que possuírem, vocês permitirão o resgate da terra.”

3. O meio ambiente reflete a glória de Deus

· Salmo 19:1-2: “Os céus declaram a glória de Deus, e o firmamento anuncia a obra das suas mãos. Um dia fala a outro dia, e uma noite revela conhecimento a outra noite.”

· Jó 12:7-10: “Pergunta, porém, aos animais, e eles te ensinarão; às aves dos céus, e elas te farão saber; ou aos arbustos da terra, e eles te ensinarão; e os peixes do mar te contarão. Quem dentre todos estes não sabe que a mão do Senhor fez isto? Na sua mão está a vida de todo ser vivente e o fôlego de toda a humanidade.”

· Romanos 1:20: “Pois os seus atributos invisíveis, desde a criação do mundo, tanto o seu eterno poder como a sua divindade, têm sido vistos claramente, por meio das coisas criadas, sendo, portanto, inescusáveis.”

4. O cuidado de Deus pela criação

· Salmo 65:9-13: “Visitas a terra e a regas; tu a enriqueces grandemente; o rio de Deus está cheio de água; tu lhes forneces o trigo, pois assim o preparaste. Tu regas abundantemente os seus sulcos, aplainas os seus sulcos, amoleces-a com chuvas e abençoas o seu crescimento. Coroas o ano com a tua generosidade; as trilhas das tuas carroças transbordam de fartura. Os pastos do deserto transbordam, as colinas se cingem de alegria, os prados se vestem de rebanhos, os vales se enfeitam com o trigo; juntos gritam e cantam de alegria.”

· Mateus 6:26: “Observem as aves do céu: elas não semeiam, nem colhem, nem ajuntam em celeiros; e, contudo, o Pai celestial as alimenta. Não valeis vós muito mais do que elas?”

5. Avisos contra a exploração

· Jeremias 2:7: “Eu os trouxe a uma terra fértil para desfrutarem dos seus frutos e das suas coisas boas. Mas, quando vocês entraram, contaminaram a minha terra e fizeram da minha herança uma abominação.”

· Isaías 24:4-6: “A terra pranteia e seca; o mundo definha e murcha; os povos mais elevados da terra definham. A terra jaz contaminada sob os seus habitantes; pois transgrediram as leis, violaram os estatutos e quebraram a aliança eterna. Por isso, uma maldição devora a terra, e os seus habitantes sofrem por causa da sua iniquidade; por isso, os habitantes da terra são queimados, e poucos homens restam.”

· Apocalipse 11:18: “As nações se enfureceram, mas chegou a tua ira, e o tempo de serem julgados os mortos, e de dares o galardão aos teus servos, os profetas, e aos santos, e aos que temem o teu nome, tanto pequenos como grandes, e de destruíres os destruidores da terra.”

6. Administração e Sustentabilidade

· Provérbios 12:10: “O justo respeita a vida dos seus animais, mas a misericórdia dos ímpios é cruel.”

· Deuteronômio 20:19-20: “Quando sitiares uma cidade por muito tempo, fazendo guerra contra ela para tomá-la, não destruirás as suas árvores brandindo machado contra elas. Podes comer delas, mas não as cortarás. As árvores do campo são humanas, para serem sitiadas por ti? Somente as árvores que sabes que não são árvores para se comer, poderás destruir e cortar, para que possas construir obras de cerco contra a cidade que guerreia contra ti, até que ela caia.”

· Êxodo 23:10-11: “Durante seis anos semearás a tua terra e recolherás o seu fruto; mas no sétimo ano a deixarás descansar e ficar em pousio, para que os pobres do teu povo possam comer, e o que sobrar, os animais do campo poderão comer. Farás o mesmo com a tua vinha e com o teu olival.”

7. Renovação da Criação

· Romanos 8:19-22: “Pois a criação aguarda com ardente expectativa a revelação dos filhos de Deus. Pois a criação foi submetida à vaidade, não por sua vontade, mas por causa daquele que a sujeitou, na esperança de que a própria criação será libertada do cativeiro da corrupção, para a liberdade da glória dos filhos de Deus. Pois sabemos que toda a criação geme e está juntamente com dores de parto até agora.”

· 2 Pedro 3:13: “Mas nós, segundo a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e uma nova terra, nos quais habita a justiça.”

· Apocalipse 21:1: “Então vi um novo céu e uma nova terra, porque o primeiro céu e a primeira terra passaram, e o mar já não existe.”

Environment and Stewardship

1. God as Creator and Owner of the Earth

· Genesis 1: 1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

· Psalm 24: 1: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”

· Colossians 1: 16: “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”

2. Human Responsibility for Stewardship

· Genesis 1: 26-28: “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’”

· Genesis 2: 15: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”

· Leviticus 25: 23-24: “The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine. For you are strangers and sojourners with me. And in all the country you possess, you shall allow a redemption of the land.”

3. The Environment Reflects God’s Glory

· Psalm 19: 1-2: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”

· Job 12: 7-10: “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”

· Romans 1: 20: “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

4. God’s Care for Creation

· Psalm 65: 9-13: “You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.”

· Matthew 6: 26: “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

5. Warnings Against Exploitation

· Jeremiah 2: 7: “And I brought you into a plentiful land to enjoy its fruits and its good things. But when you came in, you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination.”

· Isaiah 24: 4-6: “The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the highest people of the earth languish. The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left.”

· Revelation 11: 18: “The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”

6. Stewardship and Sustainability

· Proverbs 12: 10: “Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.”

· Deuteronomy 20: 19-20: “When you besiege a city for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them. You may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field human, that they should be besieged by you? Only the trees that you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, that you may build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.”

· Exodus 23: 10-11: “For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield, but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.”

7. Renewal of Creation

· Romans 8: 19-22: “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”

· 2 Peter 3: 13: “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

· Revelation 21: 1: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.”
