1. A Santidade como Natureza e Mandamento de Deus

Deus é santo e ordena que Seu povo seja santo como Ele.

• Levítico 11:44–45: “Porque eu sou o Senhor, o vosso Deus. Consagrai-vos, pois, e sede santos, porque eu sou santo. Não vos contaminareis com nenhum réptil que se move sobre a terra. Pois eu sou o Senhor, que vos tirei da terra do Egito, para ser o vosso Deus. Portanto, sede santos, porque eu sou santo.”
• Levítico 19:2: “Fale a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel e diga-lhes: Sereis santos, porque eu, o Senhor vosso Deus, sou santo.”
• Levítico 20:7–8: “Portanto, santificai-vos e sede santos, porque eu sou o Senhor, vosso Deus. Guardai os meus estatutos e praticai-os; eu sou o Senhor que vos santifico.”

• 1 Samuel 2:2: “Não há santo como o Senhor; porque não há outro além de ti; não há rocha como o nosso Deus.”

2. Santidade e Separação: Chamado para Ser Separado

O povo de Deus é chamado a se separar da impureza e do mundo.

• Êxodo 19:5–6: “Agora, pois, se diligentemente ouvirdes a minha voz e guardardes a minha aliança, sereis a minha possessão preciosa dentre todos os povos… e sereis para mim um reino de sacerdotes e uma nação santa.”
• Números 16:21: “Afastem-se do meio desta congregação, para que eu os consuma num momento.”
• Deuteronômio 14:2: “Porque tu és povo santo ao Senhor teu Deus, e o Senhor te escolheu para seres o seu povo precioso, dentre todos os povos que há sobre a face da terra.”
• Josué 3:5: “Então Josué disse ao povo: ‘Santifiquem-se, porque amanhã o Senhor fará maravilhas no meio de vocês.’”
• 2 Crônicas 29:5: “Ouçam-me, levitas! Agora consagrem-se e consagrem a casa do Senhor… e tirem a impureza do Lugar Santo.”
• Esdras 6:21: “Era comido pelos filhos de Israel que haviam retornado do exílio, e também por todos os que se haviam unido a eles e se separado da impureza dos povos da terra para adorar o Senhor.”
• Neemias 9:2: “E os israelitas se separaram de todos os estrangeiros e se levantaram, e confessaram os seus pecados e as iniquidades de seus pais.”

• Romanos 1:7: “A todos os que estão em Roma, amados de Deus e chamados para serem santos: Graça a vocês e paz da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.”
• 2 Coríntios 6:14–18: “Não vos prendais a um jugo desigual com os infiéis… Portanto, retirai-vos do meio deles, separai-vos deles, diz o Senhor; e não toqueis coisa imunda; então vos receberei… e sereis para mim filhos e filhas.”
• 2 Coríntios 7:1: “Visto que temos essas promessas… purifiquemo-nos de toda impureza, tanto do corpo como do espírito, aperfeiçoando a santidade no temor de Deus.”
• Tiago 1:27: “A religião pura e imaculada para com Deus… é esta: Visitar os órfãos e as viúvas nas suas tribulações e guardar-se da corrupção do mundo.”
• 1 Pedro 2:9–11: “Mas vocês são geração eleita, sacerdócio real, nação santa… Rogo-lhes… que se abstenham das paixões da carne, que guerreiam contra a alma.”
• Apocalipse 18:4: “Então ouvi outra voz do céu, que dizia: Sai dela, povo meu, para que não sejas cúmplice dos seus pecados, nem participes das suas pragas.”

3. Purificação Ritual e Mikveh (Leis de Pureza e Simbolismo)

Lavagem e separação simbólicas para se aproximar de Deus; pureza física como sombra da santidade interior.

• Êxodo 30:18-21: “Farás também uma bacia de bronze, com a sua base de bronze, para as abluções. Pô-la-ás entre a tenda da congregação e o altar, e nela deitarás água… Lavar-se-ão com água, para que não morram.”
• Levítico 15:13: “Quando o que tem fluxo for purificado do seu fluxo, então contará para si sete dias para a sua purificação; lavará as suas vestes, e banhará o seu corpo em água fresca, e será limpo.”
• Levítico 16:4: “Ele vestirá a túnica sagrada de linho… Estas são as vestes sagradas. Ele banhará o seu corpo em água e então as vestirá.”
• Levítico 22:6–7: “…a pessoa que tocar em tal coisa ficará impura até a tarde e não comerá das coisas sagradas, a menos que tenha banhado seu corpo em água.”
• Números 19:19: “E o limpo espargirá sobre o imundo… e ao sétimo dia o purificará, e lavará as suas vestes, e se banhará em água, e à tarde será limpo.”
• Ezequiel 36:25: “Aspergirei água limpa sobre vocês, e ficarão purificados de todas as suas imundícies; e eu os purificarei de todos os seus ídolos.”
• João 3:5: “Respondeu Jesus: Em verdade, em verdade te digo que aquele que não nascer da água e do Espírito não pode entrar no reino de Deus.”
• João 13:10: “Disse-lhe Jesus: ‘Aquele que se banhou não precisa lavar senão os pés, pois no mais está todo limpo. Vós estais limpos, mas não todos.’”
• Hebreus 9:10: “…tratem somente de comida, bebida e várias abluções, ordenanças para o corpo impostas até o tempo da reforma.”
• Hebreus 10:22: “Aproximemo-nos com verdadeiro coração, em plena certeza de fé, tendo os corações purificados de má consciência e os corpos lavados com água pura.”
• 1 Pedro 3:21: “O batismo, que corresponde a isto, agora vos salva, não como a remoção da imundícia do corpo, mas como a indagação de uma boa consciência diante de Deus, por meio da ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.”

4. Abominando o mal e as coisas mundanas

Santidade envolve rejeitar o mal e recusar a conformidade com o mundo.

• Salmo 97:10: “Ó vós que amais o Senhor, odiai o mal! Ele preserva a vida dos seus santos e os livra das mãos dos ímpios.”
• Provérbios 8:13: “O temor do SENHOR é odiar o mal. Odeio o orgulho, a arrogância, o caminho do mal e a linguagem pervertida.”
• Amós 5:15: “Odeiem o mal, amem o bem e estabeleçam a justiça na porta; pode ser que o Senhor, o Deus dos Exércitos, tenha misericórdia do restante de José.”
• Romanos 12:2: “Não vos conformeis com este mundo, mas transformai-vos pela renovação da vossa mente…”
• Romanos 12:9: “O amor seja sem fingimento. Abominem o mal e apeguem-se ao bem.”
• 1 Coríntios 10:20-21: “O que eu quero dizer é que os pagãos sacrificam aos demônios, e não a Deus. Não quero que vocês sejam participantes dos demônios. Vocês não podem beber o cálice do Senhor e o cálice dos demônios.”
• 2 Coríntios 6:17: “Portanto, retirai-vos do meio deles, separai-vos deles, diz o Senhor; e não toqueis coisa imunda; então vos receberei.”
• Efésios 5:11: “Não participem das obras infrutíferas das trevas; pelo contrário, repreendam-nas.”

• Tito 2:11–12: “Porque a graça de Deus se manifestou… ensinando-nos a renunciar à impiedade e às paixões mundanas, e a viver de maneira sensata, justa e piedosa nesta presente era.”
• Tiago 4:4: “Infiéis! Vocês não sabem que a amizade com o mundo é inimizade com Deus?”
• 1 João 2:15–17: “Não ameis o mundo nem o que há no mundo. Se alguém ama o mundo, o amor do Pai não está nele… o mundo está passando…”

5. Santificação: Santidade na Conduta Cristã

Santidade progressiva através da obediência, fé e transformação espiritual.

• João 17:17: “Santifica-os na verdade; a tua palavra é a verdade.”
• Atos 26:18: “…para que recebam o perdão dos pecados e herança entre os que são santificados pela fé em mim.”
• Romanos 6:19: “…agora, pois, oferecei os vossos membros como servos da justiça que conduz à santificação.”
• Romanos 6:22: “Mas agora que vocês foram libertados do pecado… o fruto que vocês colhem leva à santificação e seu fim é a vida eterna.”
• 1 Coríntios 1:2: “À igreja de Deus que está em Corinto… chamados para serem santos, com todos os que em todo lugar invocam o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo…”
• 1 Coríntios 6:11: “…vocês foram lavados, mas foram santificados, mas foram justificados em nome do Senhor Jesus Cristo e no Espírito do nosso Deus.”
• 1 Tessalonicenses 4:3–4: “Porque esta é a vontade de Deus, a vossa santificação: que vos abstenhais da imoralidade sexual…”
• Hebreus 12:14: “Procurai a paz com todos e a santificação, sem a qual ninguém verá o Senhor.”
• 1 Pedro 1:2: “…segundo a presciência de Deus Pai, na santificação do Espírito, para a obediência a Jesus Cristo e para a aspersão do seu sangue…”

Holiness

1. Holiness as the Nature and Command of God

God is holy and commands His people to be holy like Him.

• Leviticus 11:44–45: “For I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls on the ground. For I am the LORD who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”
• Leviticus 19:2: “Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.”
• Leviticus 20:7–8: “Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God. Keep my statutes and do them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you.”
• Leviticus 20:26: “You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.”
• Exodus 15:11: “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”
• Isaiah 6:1–5: “In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim… And one called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!’ … And I said: ‘Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips… for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!’”
• Psalm 99:3, 5, 9: “Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he!… Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!… Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy!”
• 1 Samuel 2:2: “There is none holy like the LORD: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
• Isaiah 57:15: “For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.’”
• Habakkuk 1:13: “You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?”
• 1 Peter 1:15–16: “But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’”
• Revelation 4:8: “And the four living creatures… never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’”

2. Holiness and Separation: Call to Be Set Apart

God’s people are called to be separate from uncleanness and the world.

• Exodus 19:5–6: “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples… and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”
• Numbers 16:21: “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”
• Deuteronomy 14:2: “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”
• Joshua 3:5: “Then Joshua said to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.’”
• 2 Chronicles 29:5: “Hear me, Levites! Now consecrate yourselves, and consecrate the house of the LORD… and carry out the filth from the Holy Place.”
• Ezra 6:21: “It was eaten by the people of Israel who had returned from exile, and also by everyone who had joined them and separated himself from the uncleanness of the peoples of the land to worship the LORD.”
• Nehemiah 9:2: “And the Israelites separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.”
• Isaiah 52:11: “Depart, depart, go out from there; touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her; purify yourselves, you who bear the vessels of the LORD.”
• Ezekiel 22:26: “Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common… so that I am profaned among them.”
• Ezekiel 44:23: “They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.”
• Romans 1:7: “To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
• 2 Corinthians 6:14–18: “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers… Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you… and you shall be sons and daughters to me.”
• 2 Corinthians 7:1: “Since we have these promises… let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.”
• James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God… is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
• 1 Peter 2:9–11: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation… I urge you… to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.”
• Revelation 18:4: “Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.’”

3. Ritual Purification & Mikveh (Purity Laws and Symbolism)

Symbolic washing and separation to approach God; physical purity as a shadow of inner holiness.

• Exodus 30:18–21: “You shall also make a basin of bronze, with its stand of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it… they shall wash with water, so that they may not die.”
• Leviticus 15:13: “And when the one with a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count for himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his body in fresh water, and he shall be clean.”
• Leviticus 16:4: “He shall put on the holy linen coat… These are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water and then put them on.”
• Leviticus 22:6–7: “…the person who touches such a thing shall be unclean until the evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he has bathed his body in water.”
• Numbers 19:19: “And the clean person shall sprinkle it on the unclean… and on the seventh day he shall purify him, and he shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and at evening he shall be clean.”
• Ezekiel 36:25: “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.”
• John 3:5: “Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.’”
• John 13:10: “Jesus said to him, ‘The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.’”
• Hebrews 9:10: “…deal only with food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.”
• Hebrews 10:22: “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
• 1 Peter 3:21: “Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

4. Abhorring Evil and Worldly Things

Holiness involves rejecting evil and refusing conformity to the world.

• Psalm 97:10: “O you who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”
• Proverbs 8:13: “The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.”
• Amos 5:15: “Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
• Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
• Romans 12:9: “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”
• 1 Corinthians 10:20–21: “I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.”
• 2 Corinthians 6:17: “Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you.”
• Ephesians 5:11: “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
• Colossians 3:5: “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
• 1 Thessalonians 5:22: “Abstain from EVERY form of evil.”
• 2 Timothy 2:21: “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master…”
• Titus 2:11–12: “For the grace of God has appeared… training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.”
• James 4:4: “You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?”
• 1 John 2:15–17: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him… the world is passing away…”

5. Sanctification: Holiness in Christian Conduct

Progressive holiness through obedience, faith, and spiritual transformation.

• John 17:17: “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
• Acts 26:18: “…that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”
• Romans 6:19: “…so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.”
• Romans 6:22: “But now that you have been set free from sin… the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.”
• 1 Corinthians 1:2: “To the church of God that is in Corinth… called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
• 1 Corinthians 6:11: “…you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
• 1 Thessalonians 4:3–4: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality…”
• Hebrews 12:14: “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
