37: O universo existe no tempo de Deus

Deus criou o universo no tempo e no espaço.

  • Gênesis 1:1 – “No princípio, Deus criou os céus e a terra.”
  • Salmo 90:2 – “Antes que os montes nascessem, e que tu formasses a terra e o mundo, de eternidade a eternidade tu és Deus.”
  • Colossenses 1:16–17 – “Pois nele foram criadas todas as coisas nos céus e na terra, as visíveis e as invisíveis, sejam tronos, sejam dominações, sejam principados, sejam potestades. Tudo foi criado por ele e para ele. Ele é antes de todas as coisas, e nele todas as coisas subsistem.”
  • Isaías 46:10 – “Desde o princípio anuncio o fim, e desde a antiguidade as coisas que ainda não sucederam…”
  • Hebreus 1:2–3 – “…mas nestes últimos dias nos falou pelo Filho, a quem constituiu herdeiro de todas as coisas, por meio de quem criou o universo … Ele é o resplendor da glória de Deus e a expressão exata do seu ser, sustentando o universo pela palavra do seu poder…” Deus criou por meio de Jesus (João 1), mas Deus dirigiu tudo

A soberania de Deus sobre o tempo e a cronologia

  • Eclesiastes 3:1 – “Para tudo há uma ocasião, e há um tempo para cada propósito debaixo do céu”
  • Daniel 2:21 – “Ele muda os tempos e as estações; remove reis e estabelece reis; dá sabedoria aos sábios e conhecimento aos entendidos.”
  • Salmo 31:15 – “Os meus tempos estão nas tuas mãos; livra-me das mãos dos meus inimigos e dos meus perseguidores!”
  • Atos 1:7 – “Não vos compete saber os tempos ou as épocas que o Pai reservou pelo seu próprio poder.”

Tempos Designados por Deus e seu Cumprimento

  • Gênesis 18:14 – “Existe alguma coisa difícil demais para o Senhor? No tempo determinado, voltarei a você, por volta desta época, no ano que vem, e Sara terá um filho.”
  • Habacuque 2:3 – “Pois a visão ainda aguarda o seu tempo determinado; apressa-se para o fim; não falhará. Se tardar, espere-a; certamente virá; não tardará.”
  • Gálatas 4:4 – “Mas, vindo a plenitude dos tempos, Deus enviou seu Filho, nascido de mulher, nascido sob a lei.”

  • Romanos 5:6 – “Porque Cristo, quando ainda éramos fracos, morreu a seu tempo pelos ímpios.”

Esperando o Tempo de Deus

  • Isaías 40:31 – “Mas os que esperam no Senhor renovarão as suas forças, subirão com asas como águias; correrão e não se cansarão; caminharão e não se fatigarão.”
  • Salmo 27:14 – “Espere pelo Senhor, seja forte e fortaleça o seu coração; espere pelo Senhor!”
  • Lamentações 3:25–26 – “O Senhor é bom para aqueles que esperam por ele, para a alma que o busca. É bom esperar em silêncio pela salvação do Senhor.”

Obediência Imediata à Instrução de Deus

  • Gênesis 6:22 – “Noé fez isso; ele fez tudo o que Deus lhe ordenou.”
  • Gênesis 12:4 – “Então Abrão foi, como o Senhor lhe havia dito, e Ló foi com ele.”
  • Êxodo 12:28 – “Então os filhos de Israel foram e fizeram como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés e a Arão, assim fizeram.”
  • Mateus 4:20 – “Imediatamente, eles deixaram as redes e o seguiram.”
  • Atos 9:20 – “E logo nas sinagogas pregava a Jesus, dizendo: Este é o Filho de Deus.”

Consequências de atraso ou rejeição de tempo

  • Números 14:40–45 – Israel tenta entrar na Terra Prometida depois que o tempo determinado por Deus já passou; eles são derrotados.
  • Jesus profetiza a destruição de Jerusalém por volta de 70 d.C.
  • Lucas 19:41-44 – “Porque não conheceste o tempo da tua visitação.”
  • Mateus 25:10–12 – “E, tendo elas ido comprá-lo, chegou o noivo, e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele para as bodas, e fechou-se a porta.”
  • Hebreus 3:15 – “Como está dito: ‘Hoje, se ouvirdes a sua voz, não endureçais os vossos corações, como na rebelião.’”

Deus abrindo e fechando portas

  • Deus fechou a porta da Arca .
  • Apocalipse 3:7–8 – “O que ele abre ninguém fecha, e o que ele fecha ninguém abre… Eis que pus diante de ti uma porta aberta, que ninguém pode fechar.”
  • Atos 14:27 – “Eles contaram tudo o que Deus havia feito por meio deles e como havia aberto a porta da fé aos gentios.”
  • 1 Coríntios 16:9 – “Porque se me abriu uma porta espaçosa para uma obra eficaz, e há muitos adversários.”

Prontidão e Vigilância em Responder ao Tempo de Deus

  • Mateus 24:44 – “Portanto, vocês também devem estar preparados, pois o Filho do Homem virá numa hora em que vocês menos esperam.”
  • Marcos 13:33 – “Estejam atentos e vigiem, pois vocês não sabem quando chegará o tempo.”
  • Lucas 12:35–36 – “Estejam preparados para a batalha, mantenham suas lâmpadas acesas e sejam como homens que esperam seu senhor…”
  • Romanos 13:11 – “Além disso, vocês conhecem o tempo: que é chegada a hora de despertarem do sono.”

Discernimento rápido e aproveitamento da oportunidade divina

  • Esteja atento aos tempos e às estações (Eclesiastes)
  • Efésios 5:15–16 – “Portanto, vede prudentemente como andais, não como néscios, mas como sábios, aproveitando ao máximo cada oportunidade, porque os dias são maus.”
  • Colossenses 4:5 – “Andai com sabedoria para com os de fora, usando o tempo da melhor maneira possível.”
  • João 9:4 – “É necessário que façamos as obras daquele que me enviou enquanto é dia; porque a noite vem, quando ninguém pode trabalhar.”
  • 2 Timóteo 4:2 – “Pregue a palavra, esteja preparado a tempo e fora de tempo…”

The Universe exists in God’s timing

God created the universe in time and space.

  • Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
  • Psalm 90:2 – “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
  • Colossians 1:16–17 – “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
  • Isaiah 46:10 – “Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done…”
  • Hebrews 1:2–3 – “…but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power…”  God created through Jesus (John 1), but God directed everything
  • Acts 17:26 – “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place…”

God’s Sovereignty Over Time and Timing

  • Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven”
  • Daniel 2:21 – “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
  • Psalm 31:15 – “My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!”
  • Acts 1:7 – “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.”

God’s Appointed Times and Fulfillment

  • Genesis 18:14 – “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
  • Habakkuk 2:3 – “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end — it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
  • Galatians 4:4 – “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.” (Jesus born under the law — Holy — in God’s timing)
  • Romans 5:6 – “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”

Waiting on God’s Timing

  • Isaiah 40:31 – “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
  • Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
  • Lamentations 3:25–26 – “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

Immediate Obedience to God’s Instruction

  • Genesis 6:22 – “Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.”
  • Genesis 12:4 – “So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him.”
  • Exodus 12:28 – “Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.”
  • Matthew 4:20 – “Immediately they left their nets and followed him.”
  • Acts 9:20 – “And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, ‘He is the Son of God.’”

Consequences of Delayed or Rejected Timing

  • Numbers 14:40–45 – Israel tries to enter the Promised Land after God’s timing had passed; they are defeated.
  • Jesus prophesies the destruction of Jerusalem in about 70 A.D.
  • Luke 19:41-44 – “Because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
  • Matthew 25:10–12 – “And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.”
  • Hebrews 3:15 – “As it is said, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’”

God Opening and Closing Doors

  • God closed the door of the Ark.
  • Revelation 3:7–8 – “What he opens no one will shut, and what he shuts no one opens… I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut.”
  • Acts 14:27 – “They declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.”
  • 1 Corinthians 16:9 – “For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
  • 2 Corinthians 2:12 – “When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord…”

Readiness and Vigilance in Responding to God’s Timing

  • Matthew 24:44 – “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
  • Mark 13:33 – “Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.”
  • Luke 12:35–36 – “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master…”
  • Romans 13:11 – “Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep.”

Prompt Discernment and Seizing Divine Opportunity

  • Be aware of the times and seasons (Ecclesiastes)
  • Ephesians 5:15–16 – “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
  • Colossians 4:5 – “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.”
  • John 9:4 – “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.”
  • 2 Timothy 4:2 – “Preach the Word; be ready in season and out of season…”
