Biblical Worldview
1. God as Creator and Sovereign
· Genesis 1: 1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
· Isaiah 40:28: “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.”
· Isaiah 45: 18: “For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens… He formed it to be inhabited: ‘I am the Lord, and there is no other.’”
· Psalm 24: 1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”
2. The Nature and Character of God
· Exodus 34: 6-7: “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
· Deuteronomy 7:9: “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”
· Deuteronomy 32: 4: “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice.”
· Isaiah 6: 3: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”
· John 4:24: “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (see also Colossians 1:15)
· Ephesians 2:4-5: “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.”
· 1 John 4:8: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
3. Humanity’s Identity and Purpose
· Genesis 1: 27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
· Isaiah 43: 7: “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory.”
· Ecclesiastes 12: 13: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
4. The Problem of Sin
· Genesis 3: 6-7: “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food… she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate.”
· Romans 3: 23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
· Romans 6: 23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
5. Redemption Through Christ
· John 3: 16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
· 2 Corinthians 5: 21: “For our sake He made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
· Ephesians 2: 8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
6. The Authority of Scripture
· 2 Timothy 3: 16-17: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
· Psalm 119: 105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
· Matthew 24: 35: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”
7. God’s Sovereign Rule Over History
· Daniel 4: 35: “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and He does according to His will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth.”
· Proverbs 19: 21: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
· Romans 8: 28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”
8. The Call to Holy Living
· Micah 6: 8: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
· 1 Peter 1: 15-16: “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.”
· Romans 12: 2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
9. The Kingdom of God
· Matthew 6: 33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
· Matthew 28: 18-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
· Revelation 21: 1-4: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth… and God himself will be with them as their God.”
10. Eternal Hope and Judgment
